I was given permission to hike some very remote private property today, and with the weather as unsettled as it has been this week I thought a sunrise shot would be my best option. I had to get out on the trail about an hour before the sun came up and it was unbelievably dark this morning. I really didn’t have a way to tell exactly what the view of the Peak would be like until the sun started to come up, so tried to make sure I could always see the light on the summit as my guide. When the sunrise colors started to show I was at the bottom of a deep draw and had to go off trail and just hike straight up the hill so I didn’t miss my window of opportunity. By the time I got high enough to see the summit and get a clear shot of the mountain,  I had missed the brightest colors in the clouds…but I was just in time to catch the first light on the mountain. What a beautiful morning hike!
